The Waiting Room is a Visit Britain 4 Star Rated Self Catering Cottage set in the Northumberland countryside near Hexham. It overlooks Staward Gorge Area of Natural Beauty, near to Hexham, Britain's best market town 2006. Built in 1852, The Waiting Room is part of Staward Railway Station. It is a detached cottage with south-facing mature gardens. Recently refurbished to very high standards it retains many original features including tongue and groove walls, fireplace and ticket hatch. The station platform provides an extensive patio for alfresco dining. Garden furniture and a parasol are provided. There is easy access to Hadrian's Wall world heritage site, Staward Gorge and Allenbanks and it is within 45 minutes drive of the Northumberland coast and the Lake District.
